About

I am Chuck Feesago (b. 1954), an individual of mixed cultural background – Pacific Islander and Northern European.

Originally from Southern California, I also have lived in North Carolina and Virginia.

I currently reside in Pomona, California.

I have a BA from UC Irvine and an MFA from Claremont Graduate University.

I am on faculty at the University of La Verne in the Department of Art & Art History focused on studio courses and mentoring.

As an artist, my work and installations have been exhibited throughout Southern California, New Zealand, Australia, and Samoa.

Besides my art practice I also am a curator and was co-founder of the alternative art space Project_210 in Pasadena, California.

Philosophically I am a pessimistic optimist. My environment and those of others are constantly in flux and the need to be able to adapt is imperative.

I see that circumstances, experiences, reactions, and the culmination of events from the perspectives that form our existence. We all share this formula to become unique individuals with perspectives that differ from others.

As we prosper, develop insights, cultivate judgments, and fine-turn our thoughts/beliefs. We peel away the layers of the undiscovered or the unrealized where we find truths and falsehoods that influence our future development.

Practice and the art that is produced is influenced by the similarities and differences of systems. Especially when they come together.

The outcome becomes a new system that collectively accepts and rejects elements from each of the original systems. The strengths and weaknesses of those elements are not as important as the need for those elements to support the new system.

Outside influences from other sources contribute to the mix of acceptance and rejection of elements.

This ever-evolving realization gives my work the ability to shift to the needs of the viewer and the relevance of the work.
